As Angell Hall first grants me escape from the harsh Ann Arbor wind, I am immediately subjected to a barrage of flyers that are extreme even by collegiate standards of political correctness. They read:
"If you do one or more of the following things:
… use words like 'pimp' and 'player' to praise sexually exploitative men
… blame women who have experienced sexual assault for indecency, stupidity, for 'asking for it'
… think 'no' means 'yes'
… excuse sexual violence because 'men can't control themselves'
YOU ARE CONTRIBUTING TO RAPE CULTURE.

After getting numerous job offers, University President Sidney Ribeau finally gave in. Ribeau will be leaving the University in August to take the position as the 16th president of Howard University in Washington D.C.
He sent out an email this morning to the BGSU community stating his intent to head "one of 48 private doctoral/research intensive universities in the United States.

In an effort to replicate the success of resources like the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's OpenCourseWare website, School of Information Prof. Joseph Hardin has launched a program called dScribe - short for digital scribe - that would make syllabuses, lectures, homework and tests from University classes available to Internet users around the world.

Thanks to the aggressive legal tactics of the Recording Industry Association of America, in addition to worrying about finals, some college students over the past to weeks have also had to worry about their criminal records. Campuses across the nation saw huge spikes in subpoenas delivered by the organization, including here at the University.

Speculations on Wayne State's next president were put to rest on May 8 after the University of Nebraska's Dr. Jay Noren was named as the sole finalist for the job.
Noren (pronounced nor-een) was pegged as the possible successor to outgoing WSU President Irvin D. Reid, who announced his resignation in the fall of 2007.
