Troy Burrell had two touchdown receptions in Wayne State's 38-18 victory over Tiffin Saturday.

TIFFIN, Ohio -- The Wayne State Warriors defeated the Tiffin Dragons 38-8, Saturday, to remain undefeated on the road.

"It was a win," coach Paul Winters said. "It's what we came down here to do. We wanted to come down, stay healthy, play well enough to win and get out of here."

Wayne State redshirt freshman quarterback Mickey Mohner started his first career game, and he marched the Warriors straight down the field and connected with Troy Burrell for a 19-yard touchdown to open the game.

It was not the last time that Mohner would hookup with Burrell for a score. In the third quarter, Mohner connected with Burrell for a 65-yard touchdown.

Mohner was 7-for-14 passing on the day, throwing for 153 yards and two touchdowns.

"The first couple weeks I was just getting my feet wet," Mohner said. "But last week I felt like I belonged. I've just got to come out with a chip on my shoulder and try and play my game."

Joique Bell balanced the Wayne State offense, rushing for 175 yards on 35 carries (25 in the first half).

The WSU defense allowed 263 yards to Tiffin's offense, but came up with many big plays.

The Warriors sacked TU quarterback Nate Scully four times. Stan Thornton intercepted Scully once and ran back a blocked field goal 73 yards for a touchdown.

"I watched the quarterback's eyes," Thornton said of the interception. "He looked at basically whoever he wanted to throw it to. I think they had a broken pass and I read it."

Kenny Loney had nine tackles and Jeremy Jones had two pass breakups.

Wayne State is now 4-1 (3-1 GLIAC). Tiffin is 0-5 (0-4 GLIAC).
